The Seine-Scheldt EEIG visits the Vive-Saint-Bavon site

On 20 April 2023, the members of the Seine-Scheldt EEIG held their monthly meeting at Vive-Saint-Bavon (Flanders), at the invitation of De Vlaamse Waterweg nv (DVW).

After reviewing the issues on the agenda, the members visited the lock site on the Lys. They were able to see the completion of the new 280-metre lock (due to come into service in 2020) and the new control building, as well as the renovation of the dam and the work in progress on the fish pass. The entire site will be inaugurated on 20 June in the presence of the Flemish minister and representatives of the European Commission, which helped finance the project.

The EEIG representatives then travelled along section 140 of the Lys, between Deinze and Zulte, to see the progress of the ecological works on the river banks.
