As part of the Connecting Europe Days, organised in Lyon from 28 to 30 June 2022, the members of the EEIG Seine-Scheldt (Voies navigables de France, Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe, Service public de Wallonie, De Vlaamse Waterweg nv), who gathered around their manager Marie-Céline Masson, had the pleasure of presenting on a dedicated stand all the actions implemented as part of the most important large-gauge waterway infrastructure project in Europe.
This European event has brought together political leaders, representatives of the European Union (EU) and industry, to draw up sustainable and intelligent transport and mobility solutions that contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the Green Deal.
As an integral part of the European North Sea-Mediterranean corridor, Seine-Scheldt will create a new multimodal, efficient and sustainable transport offer by 2030, thanks to the development of Europe’s leading inland waterway transport network (1100 km of navigable waterways), which will link major maritime and inland ports in a territory of 40 million inhabitants in France and Belgium. Beyond, it will also provide connections with other major European river basins. The project therefore had its rightful place in these European Days!
