An important step for the Bospoort bridge project in Halle

The structure of the new bridge has been successfully installed above the Brussels-Charleroi canal. This new bridge will be a modern lift bridge. It will not only improve the performance of the canal but also ensure a smooth and safer connection for cyclists, pedestrians, and public transport.

This facility is a crucial step in the modernisation of the Brussels-Charleroi canal, one of the Flemish axes of the European Seine-Scheldt network.

The steel deck, with a span of 34 meters, a width of 9 meters and weight of 145 tons, was first transported by barge, then precisely installed using heavy cranes. Navigation remains assured during the completion of the work: the moving platform has been temporarily placed 1.6 meter higher than its final closing position, so that the canal stays operative for the inland waterway traffic.
