The Seine-Scheldt Intergovernmental Commission (CIG) visits North Sea Port

The Seine-Scheldt Intergovernmental Commission (CIG) visited North Sea Port on 28 March.

No less than 60% of the goods flow through this seaport already passes through inland waterways. The European TEN-T Seine-Scheldt project will enable the port located on the Belgian-Dutch border to benefit from a smooth and sustainable large-gauge connection with the Paris, Rouen and Le Havre regions.

After their meeting, the CIG members travelled by boat from Ghent to Terneuzen. On the way, they took an interest in the multifaceted port activity on both sides of the border between Belgium and the Netherlands. In Terneuzen, the CIG discovered the new sea lock, the main gateway to the Scheldt and the North Sea.
