At the invitation of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe, the GEIE Seine-Escaut held its monthly meeting on 10 September in Compiègne (Oise).
Representatives of the four operators responsible for implementing Europe’s largest wide-gauge river network (De Vlaamse Waterweg nv, Service public de Wallonie, SCSNE, VNF – Voies navigables de France) visited part of the construction site in the Oise department in sector 1 (between Compiègne and Passel). They were able to see the completion of several operations: the bridges connecting the D66 road (reopened in May 2025) and spanning the Oise side canal, the future Seine-Nord Europe Canal and the River Oise, as well as the completion of the Oise rescindement and the Pimprez and Ribécourt quays, which will be used to supply materials to the construction sites. They also observed the work in progress on the future Montmacq-Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt lock.
After the visit, the members held their working meeting at the Maison du Canal in Compiègne and discussed current issues with the representative of the European Union agency CINEA, who participated via videoconference.
Thank you to the staff of the SCSNE for this fascinating visit, which once again demonstrates the progress made by the Seine-Escaut Network in the field, in the service of economic development and the ecological transition of the territories!
