Seine–Scheldt in the spotlight at the International Transport and Logistics Exhibition!

On the occasion of the International Transport and Logistics Exhibition (#SITL2026), held in Villepinte (north of Paris) from 31 March to 2 April, the Seine–Scheldt Network was given particular prominence.

At the EEIG Seine–Scheldt stand, co-exhibiting within the VNF inland waterways hub, students, industrial stakeholders, users and professionals from the transport and logistics sector were able, over three days, to speak with our representatives and learn more about the geography, the challenges and the services of Europe’s largest large-gauge inland waterway network between France and Belgium.

On Wednesday 1 April, during a public presentation at the SITL inland waterways hub, the Managing Director of EEIG Seine–Scheldt and VNF Territorial Director for Nord Pas-de-Calais, Gilles Ryckebusch, presented the progress of the works carried out by the EEIG partners (DVW, SPW, SCSNE, VNF) across the entire Seine–Scheldt network in France, Flanders and Wallonia. He highlighted the cross-border dimension of this project, which has benefited since 2007 from significant and consistent financial support from the European Commission, as well as its economic and environmental importance and the services it already provides to socio-economic stakeholders in the regions it crosses.

Pierre-Yves Biet, Director of Partnerships and Territories at SCSNE, then provided an update on the first operations carried out as part of the future Seine-Nord Europe Canal, from the delivery of the first bridges in the Oise sector to the awarding of the design-build contract for the Somme Canal Bridge, as well as ongoing works on the Montmacq–Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt lock and various environmental developments.

Many thanks to the organising teams of this major transport and logistics event in France and Europe, which once again demonstrated that the Seine–Scheldt Network is a concrete and visible reality across the regions, serving all inland waterway stakeholders!
